Environmental
Over the last few years global awareness of the environmental impacts of the manufacturing industry has grown, with the necessary environmental developments being a priority to industry leaders who recognise the need to enforce action to reduce the impact of all industries on our planet.
Here at LB Bentley, we have been actively reducing our carbon footprint for many years, and have made key decisions to improve our manufacturing impact on the environment with initiatives such as:
- The use of renewable energy sources with the installation of solar panels to reduce our requirement from the grid.
- Introducing a range recycling initiatives with the reuse, recycle and reduce being fundamental to our approach.
- Using a local supply chain where possible, to directly reduce carbon footprint. This has the added advantage of supporting the development of our local economy and providing employment within our local community.
LB Bentley will continue to make these improvements as environmental technologies advance and strive to continue to reduce our environmental impact with future initiatives.

As part of Severn Group, LB Bentley is proud to join the nation in celebrating Black History Month.
This annual observance serves as a vital reminder of the rich and enduring contributions that Black individuals have made throughout history. It also allows us to reaffirm our commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) within our Company.
At LB Bentley, we believe that fostering an inclusive workplace is not just a commitment but a responsibility. It is a core part of our values and a key driver of our success. It is also an opportunity to honour the Black community’s achievements, resilience, and cultural significance.
As part of our commitment to ED&I, we have encouraged all employees to take an active role in recognising and celebrating Black History Month through internal communication and providing information for employees to get involved and learn more about their community.

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on something incredibly important – World Mental Health Day!
At LB Bentley, we believe that a healthy mind is just as vital as a health body. This year’s theme, ”Mental Health is a universal right”, reminds us of the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone’s mental well-being.
Here’s what we’re doing to support our team’s mental health:
- We provide access to counselling services, ensuring our employees have a safe place to talk when needed.
- We promote work-life balance, encouraging our team to take breaks and recharge.
Reach out to friends and family, practice self-care and remember that it’s okay not to be okay sometimes.
Let’s break the stigma surrounding mental health and work together to create a world where mental well-being is a top priority for all.

As part of our ESG program, LB Bentley provide support to local schools and colleges who offer the opportunity to take part in careers and personal development events to their students.
A local secondary school – Thomas Keble asked LB Bentley if they could be involved with their year 11 careers day, by supporting the ‘Mock Interviews’ section of the day.
Phil Mott (Charge hand), who is on the BVAA Future Leaders Programme, took part as an interviewer, along with Angela Carroll (Marketing Manager. Phil commented that the event ‘was a great development opportunity for me, as well as the students’ and added ‘the students were all very confident and articulate, a credit to their school’.
Over the following weeks, LB Bentley will be supporting a range of various educational liaison events from careers exhibitions to ‘Meet the Professional’.

As part of LB Bentley’s educational liaison programme and the Group’s commitment to ESG, LB Bentley supports the local schools and colleges with their career events.
With career awareness and development being an important part of the school curriculum for 12 to 18-year-olds, schools and colleges look to local businesses from a variety of industries to support them in the delivery of this objective.
There are several different types of career events that LB Bentley supports, from careers open evenings and ‘meet the professional’, where we are able to share information about the engineering industry, to mock interviews and project days, where we can support learning objectives.

- Recycling and re-using the by-product of our manufacturing: oils, swarf, etc.
- Using local suppliers where feasible to cut down our supply chain carbon footprint considerably.
And on our doorstep…
- An ongoing replanting and regeneration programme.
- Keeping areas of the premises specifically for nature by leaving nettles and buddleia, plus planting insect-friendly wildflower areas.

As part of our ESG commitment the LB Bentley team set out to raise funds for Maggie’s Charity, a UK charity to support people, and their families, when they have received a cancer diagnosis.
This charity was chosen by someone in our team who received support from Maggie’s, this meant that there was a very enthusiastic turnout both with bakers and cake eaters alike.
Thank you to everyone who took part and donated.
